Companies fined QR100,000 each for violating environment protection rules

DOHA: A lower court has fined several local companies QR100,000 each for violating environmental protection rules. These companies were involved in dumping sewage water through water tankers in undesignated places on the sly at night trying to hoodwink the authorities. Some other companies were involved in extracting sand from natural reserves or areas from where sand extraction is not allowed. These companies had no license to extract sand. Some companies were fined since their heavy vehicles destroyed greenery as they were driven in grassy land to carry out their illegal activities. The vehicles were caught by inspectors from the Ministry of Environment, local Arabic daily Al Raya reports.
