Doha: In a joint press conference held in Doha with French Foreign Minister, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister HE Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani said that Qatar’s relationship with France is strategic and distinguished in all fields.

“We celebrate the fiftieth anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations with France,” he said, stressing the importance of the economic partnership between the two countries, especially investment in the field of energy and trade.
On the Ukraine issue, he said that “we emphasized diplomatic solution in Ukraine and respect for humanitarian law.”

For his part, French Foreign Minister HE Jean-Yves Le Drian said that “Qatar is a friendly country and a solid partner, with whom we have a strategic partnership. We work together to meet the new challenges in energy security and food security for the continent.”
The Minister also said that global conditions turned upside down after Russia's attack on Ukraine.
“The Russian attack on Ukraine is a direct threat to interests on the European continent,” he said.

The minister said that international law cannot be selective and that is why we condemn Russian violations of international law.
