The Emir hosted a luncheon banquet in honour of the Prime Minister of Bahrain. Later, Father Emir H H Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani hosted a dinner banquet at Rawdat Umm Ithnaithain in honour of the Bahraini Premier.
Doha: Emir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani met with Prime Minister of Bahrain H R H Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa at the Emiri Diwan yesterday.
At the outset of the meeting, Prince Khalifa conveyed to Emir the greetings of H M King Hamad bin Issa Al Khalifa of Bahrain and his wishes to the Qatari People of further progress and prosperity.
The Emir greeted the Bahraini Prime Minister and welcomed his visit which reflects keenness of the two countries' leadership on enhancing the existing consultation, coordination and cooperation, especially in light of the grave challenges facing the region. The Emir entrusted the Bahraini Premier with his greetings to the King of Bahrain and his wishes to Bahraini people of further progress and prosperity.
Talks during the meeting addressed bilateral relations and means to further develop them for the welfare and interests of the two brotherly peoples in addition to ways of enhancing Gulf joint action. The two sides also discussed the latest regional and international developments, and exchanged views on a number of issues of common concern.
The meeting was attended by Deputy Emir H H Sheikh Abdullah bin Hamad Al Thani, Personal Representative of the Emir H H Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al Thani, H E Sheikh Jassim bin Khalifa Al Thani, Prime Minister and Interior Minister H E Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al Thani and a number of Their Excellencies, Sheikhs and Ministers.
On the Bahraini side, the meeting was attended by Bahrain's Deputy Prime Minister Sheikh Ali bin Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa, Sheikh Ibrahim bin Hamad bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, Deputy Prime Minister Sheikh Khalid bin Abdullah bin Khalid Al Khalifa, Prime Minister's Advisor Sheikh Salman bin Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa, Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Khalid bin Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Khalifa and Their Excellencies members of the official delegation accompanying the Prime Minister of Bahrain. H H Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al Thani, the personal representative of HH the Emir, attended the banquet along with Prime Minister and Interior Minister H E Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al Thani, and HE Sheikh Jassim bin Khalifa Al Thani.
On the Bahraini side, Deputy Prime Minister Sheikh Ali bin Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa attended the banquet along with Sheikh Ibrahim bin Hamad bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, Deputy Prime Minister Sheikh Khalid bin Abdullah bin Khalid Al Khalifa, Prime Minister's Advisor Sheikh Salman bin Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa, Foreign Minister Sheikh Khalid bin Ahmad bin Mohamed Al Khalifa, and a number of dignitaries. Upon his arrival, HRH Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa expressed pleasure for the visit to Qatar "at the invitation of our brother", pointing that it came at the invitation of Father Emir H H Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani. He hailed Gulf, Arab and Islamic bonds between the two sisterly countries.
He added that the visit is an opportunity to view aspects of the urban and developmental progress which started in reign of HH the Grandfather Emir late Sheikh Khalifa in Hamad Al Thani, continued by HH the Father Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani and carried on by HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani to make the State of Qatar a symbol of progress and development in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) and the region.
The Prime Minister considered the direct communication between the GCC leaders and senior officials, to be a necessity especially with the political, economic and security challenges in the region. This direct communication enhances the common position and unites visions in effectively confronting these challenges, he said stressing the importance of intensifying meetings and coordination between GCC States to maintain the security, stability and development of the region.
