Doha, Qatar: The Qatar Boxing and Wrestling Federation (QBWF) has stepped up preparations to stage the eighth edition of the Katara Boxing Championship. Scheduled to kick off tomorrow at Katara, the three-day event will witness a strong line-up of elite boxers in action.
The medical examinations and official weigh-ins for participants, in addition to the technical meeting at the federation’s headquarters today.
The preliminary rounds will start tomorrow, while Friday will be dedicated to staging the finals and crowning the winners.
The programme concludes on Saturday with a professional day, featuring international professional athletes in various combat sports.
The tournament comes as part of the federation’s strategy to transform it into an annual global event supporting professional sports in the State of Qatar, following the strong success of previous editions, which witnessed wide public attendance.
The current edition is expected to achieve new record numbers, especially with the variety of events and the distinguished location.
The final day of the championship will, for the first time, witness professional fights in various combat sports with the participation of internationally ranked players, making the championship a focus of attention for professional fighting enthusiasts at the international level.
