More than 20,400 new driving licences issued last month

The number of new driving licences issued in November this year has witnessed a huge increase, according to the 34th edition of Qatar Monthly Statistics. Some 20,493 new driving licences were issued last month, increasing by more than 100% from October 2016, despite the fact that people from various professions have been barred from getting the licence.
The monthly report issued by the Ministry of Development Planning and Statistics highlights detailed statistics on Qatar recorded during the period of October 2016 in addition to a glance at 2015 census.
The most highlighted statistical data was the high increase in the number of driving licences issued in November 2016. A total of 20,493 driving licences were issued during November 2016, more than double from the 10,075 new ones issued in October 2016.
A majority of 82% of the new licences issued in November was for non-Qatari males. Approximately 4% of the new licences were issued to Qatari males, while 1% was for Qatari females and 13% for non-Qatari females.
The monthly report highlighted a significant decrease in electricity utilisation during November 2016. The total electricity utilisation amounted to 2,858,106 (MW/H) during November 2016, compared to 3,529,926 (MW/H) in October 2016. There has also been a significant decrease in water consumption during November 2016 which amounted to approximately 6.3% compared with consumption during October 2016.
The total water consumption was 45,563,368 (m3) during November 2016, compared to 48,688,488 (m3) in October.
The demographic statistics in the bulletin show that Qatar’s population reached 2.6 million in October 2016, an annual increase of 8.3% as the population was 2.4 million in October 2015. A total of 2,311 births and 188 deaths were reported in October.
Some 161,353 traffic violations were registered in October, with a positive monthly change amounting to 11.2% compared to September 2016.
In October, 8,629 vehicles were registered compared to 5,352 during September, with a monthly increase amounting to 61.2%.
Meanwhile, Al Daayen municipality topped among the municipalities with the highest number of sold properties. A total of 210 properties were sold during October, and 92 properties were sold during November. The total value of properties sold in Al Daayen Municipality was QR 537,076,000 in October 2016 and about QR 963,453,000 during November.
Total broad money supply (M2) recorded was about QR 489bn during the month of October 2016, showing a monthly decrease of 0.9% compared to September 2016.
On the other hand, cash equivalents, including deposits decreased by 0.3 % during October 2016 compared to September 2016, as it recorded about QR 677 bn during October 2016.
In contrast, total broad money supply (M2) recorded a negative year-on-year change of 4.1%, while cash equivalents; includes deposits, recorded a positive year-on-year change of 7.4%.
