Doha, Qatar: Millions stepped up impressively, clinching the Ras Laffan Cup - the 1100m Thoroughbred Open race for 3YOs - at Al Rayyan Racecourse yesterday.
The seven-year-old chestnut gelding, owned and trained by Abdulaziz Ali Al-Kathiri, was expertly guided by Szczepan Mazur, who waited calmly before unleashing a late charge in the final 100 metres to win by half a length.
Rashid Saed Adiba, Head of the QREC Racing Operations Section, presented the trophies to the winners.

The triumph completed a hat-trick for Mazur, who had earlier ridden Roma to success in the Local Purebred Arabian Handicap (75–95) and the Local Thoroughbred Maiden Plate aboard Barkt Al Majd.
Today, QREC will stage the Derby Trials Day at Al Uqda Racecourse. With QR1.08m in prize money across nine races, the event provides the first major form guide ahead of the Qatar International Derby on 20 December and the Qatar Oaks a day earlier.
Racing begins at 2:30 pm with the Local Purebred Arabian Derby Trial (3YOs, 1400m) and features key trials for 3- and 4-year-olds, including Thoroughbred and Arabian Oaks contests.
