Doha, Qatar: Al Shaqab yesterday announced the launch of the FEI Group VII Finals, which will be held at the Longines Outdoor Arena from today.

The three-day event will bring together the finest athletes in Children, Junior, and Young Rider categories, who have qualified through the 2024–2025 equestrian season.

The prestigious three-day event, taking place daily from 3:00 PM to 9:00 PM, will showcase 110+ riders from 11 countries, competing in CSIY-A, CSIJ-A, and CSICh-A classes. These riders have earned their places through a series of FEI-registered qualifying events organised by Group VII National Federations and official committees.

The competition will be conducted strictly under FEI Rules and Regulations, ensuring fair competition and a consistent pathway for the next generation of equestrian athletes. The event will feature Children (ages 12–14) competing at a maximum height of 115 cm and a speed of 350 m/min, Juniors (ages 14–18) at a maximum height of 125 cm and speed of 350 m/min, and Young Riders (ages 16–21) at a maximum height of 135 cm and speed of 350 m/min. The total prize money for the event is €190,000.

Event Director Khalid Al-Hitmi said: “This event is not just a competition; it is a strategic step toward building the future of equestrian sport in the region. It represents the ideal pathway for young riders to qualify for the 2026 Youth Olympic Games, while offering them the opportunity to gain international experience and enhance their skills in preparation for future competitions, including continental championships.

In Qatar, we believe that equestrianism is not merely a sport, but an essential part of our cultural and athletic identity. These qualifiers provide an opportunity to strengthen interaction among athletes, families, and equestrian enthusiasts from across the FEI Group VII.”

For the first time in Qatar, participating countries will form teams in each age category, promoting camaraderie and national pride. The team draw will be held on 26 November, with team competitions scheduled for the second day of the event. This initiative enhances the spirit of teamwork and provides riders with valuable experience in international competition, helping prepare them for future events such as the Youth Olympic Games and continental championships.
