Qatar Professional Women’s Network (QPWN) recently held ‘Women in the Business of Sports Event’ at Doha Golf Club in collaboration with Qatar Ladies Open 2016.
The session was moderated by Emma Morrell, QPWN’s Head of Events. An exciting line-up of speakers had included Amina Ahmadi, Co-Founder of Oola Sportswear, Rosie Davies, Professional Golfer and Entrepreneur, Rula Soussou, Event Planner/Management Expert and Consultant and Nada Zeidan , Archer, Spokes-Model and Road Racer.
Speakers had a panel discussion about the challenges they faced throughout their careers and shared advice with women interested in getting in the sports industry.
Rosie Davies said: “Working hard, being organised and being driven can get you very long way. The sleepless nights I had, now two years down and I have expanded a lot through my hard work. Hard work always pays-off .”
“Challenges is something that everyone faces in their professional life, I always thought how to make more hours in a day, how can we make days longer in order to achieve more. Finding the right partners is not easy task while working. Once you find the perfect team, the work becomes interesting and fun.”, said Amina Ahmadi.
Nada Zeidan said: “I want to convey the challenges I faced in the sport field I chose being an Arab women. I want to inspire all the women around me to ‘live their dreams’ no matter what challenges you face. I want women to become a strong image, the brand ambassador of brands all around the world and an icon who works in all the circumstances.”
“There is an image all around the world that Arab ladies don’t work and belong to a very conservative society. I will definitely clarify that Arab ladies are able to do wonders”, she further added.
“QPWN’s mission is to promote and facilitate the professional advancement of women .The sports business is ripe with professional opportunities, which however are often overlooked by women as it is a very male-dominated environment. This event, we wanted to raise awareness about the professional opportunities for women in the sports industry and inspire our audience with success stories”, said Rita Di Antonio , Leader of QPWN.
