Ooredoo has announced that it will be the Official Telecom Sponsor of the 2016 Doha International Book Fair (DIBF), organised by the Ministry of Culture, Arts and Heritage and Dar Al Kutub Al Qatariyya.
The year 2016 will mark the 27th edition of the popular book fair, and the event, which is set to attract more visitors than ever, will take place at the Qatar National Convention Centre from November 30 to December 10. This year’s event promises to bring over 400 exhibitors from across the Arab world and beyond to the event, in the hopes of providing a platform for publishers to showcase books to the Qatari community.
Talking about the sponsorship, Fatima Sultan Al Kuwari, Director Community & Public Relations, Ooredoo Qatar, said: “Ooredoo is proud to sponsor the 2016 Doha International Book Fair as it gives a platform to Arabic and international authors and artists. We believe that the event is an important way to celebrate creativity and encourage young people to learn and appreciate reading. Events like this are vital to help continue the development of Qatar and bring back the popularity of Arabic language literature.”
As part of the company’s ‘green’ initiative, Ooredoo will also offer a free USB to book fair visitors, pre-loaded with the events schedule and guide, so that anyone with a USB enabled device can access it paper free.
Every year the Doha International Book Fair includes a host of exclusive and new titles in English and Arabic from categories including self-help, fiction, nonfiction, religious studies and children’s literature. As well as showcase writers and artists, intellectuals regularly visit the cultural event to discuss the works of Arab artists, authors and poets.
