Doha, Qatar: The Ministry of Social Development and Family (MSDF) has called on the public to scan a newly shared QR code to access the updated list of participating entities in the second edition of the Purple Saturday initiative, which provides exclusive offers and services for persons with disabilities at over 80 outlets.

In a post on its official X account, the ministry invited beneficiaries to scan the QR code to view the growing roster of businesses, hotels, attractions and specialised centres taking part in the campaign. The list is being updated daily until August 1, 2026, ensuring the public has the most current information on available discounts, promotions and accessibility services.

The Purple Saturday initiative, observed annually on the last Saturday of July, runs this year from July 25 to August 1. It is organised by the MSDF in collaboration with the Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MoCI) and Qatar Tourism, represented by Visit Qatar. The campaign forms part of a wider Gulf Cooperation Council effort that began in Saudi Arabia in 2021 and aims to promote inclusion, empowerment and equal opportunities for persons with disabilities.

According to official statements, more than 80 businesses and institutions have already joined the 2026 edition. Participating outlets are offering a range of benefits, including discounts of up to 70 percent in retail stores, free or discounted entry to selected attractions, special hotel rates, food and delivery offers, transport privileges, and free or reduced-cost education, assessment and rehabilitation services. Priority customer service and improved accessibility features are also being provided at many venues.

Beneficiaries can access these offers by presenting the initiative’s digital card, which is available for download through the MSDF’s digital platform.

The card serves as official identification for the campaign and must be shown at participating locations.

The MSDF stressed that the daily updates to the participating list via the QR code will help maximise public awareness and ensure that as many eligible individuals as possible can benefit from the available services before the campaign concludes on August 1.

Purple Saturday continues to grow as a platform for public-private partnership, raising awareness of accessibility needs and encouraging businesses to adopt more inclusive practices year-round. Officials have called on additional commercial entities to join the remaining days of the initiative to further expand the range of offers available to the community.
