DOHA: The Ministry of Municipality and Urban Planning has given new names to several roundabouts that have been converted to intersections.
The Bustan Roundabout has been renamed Faleh bin Nasser Intersection, while Al Azizia Roundabout has been named Abdul Aziz bin Ahmed Intersection. The Industrial Area Roundabout has become Khalid bin Ahmed Intersection and Al Ghanim Roundabout has been renamed Khalid bin Mohammed Al Ghanim Intersection.
The ministry has finished naming 2,780 streets across the country and proposed 6,639 names for different areas, a senior official has disclosed.
Qatar’s urban master plan includes 15,882 streets, of which 8,533 carry names. The remaining 7,349 streets are not named, Qatar News Agency reported, quoting Sheikh Faleh bin Nassir Al Thani, assistant undersecretary for public service affairs at the ministry and head of the panel for naming streets.THE PENINSULA
