Mexico City---The body of a baby blown away by a tornado was found Tuesday in northern Mexico, one of 13 fatalities from the twister.
The powerful winds that tore across Ciudad Acuna on Monday ripped the infant from the arms of his parents, triggering a frantic search for the child.
The Coahuila state government said the baby was an 11-month boy.
The child was with his parents when the family was "catapulted by the tornado," Mayor Evaristo Lenin Perez said late Monday.
The state government's list of fatalities had 13 victims, including the baby, down from a previous count of 14. A federal official said "confusion" had led to the miscount.
The toll includes 10 adults and three children, with nearly 290 people injured.
The federal government said the six-second tornado destroyed 247 homes and damaged another 450.
