Shabab Qatar players and officials celebrate after winning the Qatar National Hockey League title at Al Rayyan Stadium. In the final, Shabab Qatar defeated Gateway Hockey Club 2-0. Tariq Nazir gave the winners the lead in the 14th minute through a penalty stroke conversion. In the second half Sheraz Rana consolidated the lead in the 61st minute. In the third place play-off match, Mesaieed Hockey Club trounced former champions Wanderers Hockey Club 4-1. Mansoor Ali Khan scored a brace, while Mohammed Usman and Noor Mohammed netted one goal apiece. Jude D’Souza pulled one back for Wanderers. The sixth edition of the Qatar National Hockey League organised by Qatar Hockey Federation was contested by seven teams. Gateway Qatar won the title last year ending the three year reign of Wanderers from 2009 to 2011. Gateway Qatar, Shabab Qatar, Doha Hockey Club-1 and Doha Hockey Club-2, Mesaieed Hockey Club, United Hockey Club and Wanderers, were the seven teams that took part in this year’s league.
