The Ministry of Culture and Sports, represented by the Center for Theater Affairs, will organise a special celebration in Qatar National Theater today to mark the World Theatre Day (WTD).
The celebration brings together a number of institutions of the Ministry of Culture and Sports, including the centres of Musical Arts, Visual Arts, Civilised Conscience, Nomas and others.
Programmes during the celebrations includes various artistic and cultural events including a play — "The Wood Told Me", which is directed by Jassim Al Ansari and performed by a selection of actors.
This year, the Ministry of Culture is also joining the global celebrations of WTD, as part of its ongoing efforts aimed at strengthening the value of theatre and raising awareness about its educational role in the community. It also stems from the Ministry's keenness to mark this event since 1981. Since 1962, World Theatre Day, set by the International Theatre Institute (ITI), has been celebrated by theatre professionals, theatre organisations, theatre universities and theatre lovers all over the world on March 27.
