DOHA: Palestine secured a 2-1 victory over Al Dafna in the standout result of the third edition of the Al Thumama Ramadan Tournament at Al Furjan Stadium.
Mohammed Al Shaer was named Man of the Match after inspiring his side to all three points.
In the second fixture on Wednesday night, Al Shahania defeated Al Sha'ab 1-0, with Abdullah Haji earning the Man of the Match award following a decisive performance.
Al Waab were later awarded a 3-0 victory over Al Shaqab after lodging a protest with the organizing committee.
Although Al Shaqab had won 1-0 on the field, the absence of two Qatari players constituted a breach of tournament regulations.
The result was overturned in favour of Al Waab, and Nasser Abdulrahman Ziada was named Man of the Match.
In Group A, Abdullah Bin Turki lead the standings with seven points, level with Al Zaeem in second and Al Wajba in third, while Al Rayyan top their section with four points ahead of Al Thumama and Al Doha.
In Group B, Palestine head the table with seven points, followed by Al Shaab (six), Al Waab (five) and Al Shahaniya (four).
Al Dafna and Al Raya Medical have one point each, while Al Shaqab remain without a point.
A total of 48 goals have been scored in the tournament so far. Saif Al Darwish of Al Shaab leads the scoring charts with five goals, ahead of Ziad Khader of Al Zaeem on four. Mohammed Al Hammadi (Abdullah Bin Turki), Mohammed Al Hajri (Al Wajba) and Taim Allah Mohammed (Al Rayyan) have each scored three times.
The tournament, organised in cooperation with the Qatar Sports for All Federation, features players in the 10–14 age group (born between 2012 and 2016) and concludes next Friday.
