Doha, Qatar: Katara concluded the proceedings of the 10th General Assembly meeting of the Global Public Diplomacy Network yesterday by honouring the participating delegations from 21 countries around the world.

The ceremony was attended by Prof Dr. Khalid bin Ibrahim Al Sulaiti, General Manager of Katara and Chairman of GPDNet, Saif Saad Al Dosari, Deputy General Manager of Katara and Director of Human Resources, and Maryam Majed Al Saad, Secretary General of the Network and Executive Director of the Katara Public Diplomacy Centre. Hall 12 at Katara hosted a series of diverse cultural performances that showcased the rich heritage and traditions of the participating countries, highlighting the importance of cultural diplomacy in fostering mutual understanding among peoples.

In collaboration with the Global Public Diplomacy Network, Katara organised a workshop in Hall 15 titled, “The Impact of Media: Building Positive Environments for a Shared Global Future.”This initiative is part of Katara’s efforts to strengthen media and cultural cooperation at the international level, with the participation of an elite group of international media professionals.

The workshop began with a keynote presentation titled “Public Diplomacy: Communicating with a Wider Audience,”which emphasised the media’s ability to positively influence societies and promote cultural dialogue between nations.

The workshop explored various themes, including how to leverage traditional and digital media to effectively deliver messages, with a focus on understanding target audiences, cultural sensitivities, and the most effective storytelling techniques to enhance mutual understanding.

Additionally, the workshop examined the role of modern technologies, such as artificial intelligence, in strengthening GPDNet’s global media presence. It also discussed strategies to improve media engagement to ensure messages reach diverse societal groups.

The workshop underscored the importance of media cooperation in supporting intercultural dialogue and advancing cultural diplomacy, emphasising the need to adopt innovative strategies that align with digital and technological advancements to ensure a positive and sustainable media impact in building a more connected and understanding global future.

This workshop aligns with Katara and GPDNet’s commitment to promoting responsible media and enhancing its role in building bridges of cultural communication between peoples, in line with Katara’s vision to serve as a global platform for cultural dialogue and public diplomacy.

As part of efforts to strengthen the role of the GPDNet at the local, regional, and international levels, an interactive dialogue session was held in Hall 12 at Katara. Member delegations shared their opinions and suggestions to develop a clear vision for the future. Participants exchanged ideas in successive rounds, with a focus on documenting all observations to ensure their analysis and incorporation into future strategic planning.

Delegations from Hungary, Rwanda, Tajikistan, and Bulgaria presented rich and diverse cultural performances during the closing day of the 10th General Assembly of the Global Public Diplomacy Network. These performances included traditional arts, music, fashion, and interactive experiences that reflected the unique cultural heritage of each country. These presentations reaffirmed that culture remains one of the most powerful tools for human communication, transcending political and linguistic boundaries to unite peoples within a framework of mutual understanding and respect.
