Doha, Qatar: The State of Qatar, represented by the Ministry of Municipality, participated on Monday in the meeting of the Preparatory Committee for Undersecretaries responsible for agriculture and food security in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries, held in the State of Kuwait.
The meeting comes as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen joint GCC cooperation and advance the food security system across member states.
The Qatari delegation was headed by Eng. Fahad Mohammed Al-Qahtani, Assistant Undersecretary for Agriculture and Food Security Affairs at the Ministry of Municipality.
Qatar’s participation reflects its commitment to enhancing GCC partnerships and advancing food security initiatives in alignment with its national strategies and Qatar National Vision 2030.
These efforts aim to achieve sustainable food self-sufficiency and develop the agricultural, livestock, and fisheries sectors.
The meeting discussed a number of topics related to strengthening GCC food security, including follow-up on the implementation of joint strategies, development of food supply chains, coordination of efforts in agricultural production and livestock development, and the review of new initiatives supporting agricultural sustainability and food security across the member states.
