World No.43 Abdulla Al Tamimi kept himself on course of picking up a title at a home event as he cruised into the quarter-finals of the Qatar Circuit No.4 with an easy straight games win over Iranian Mohammed Jafari.
Yesterday at the Khalifa International Tennis and Squash Complex, the 22-year-old Aspire Academy product just took 17 minutes and lost just four rallies to brush aside his opponent.
Tamimi who is the top seed of the tournament and who is preparing for next month’s World Championship in Manchester, won 11-1, 11-2, 11-1 and will take on Ammar Altamimi of Kuwait in today’s last eight clash.
The Kuwaiti, brushed aside the challenge of Darren Rahul Pragasam of Malaysia in three games to one. Ammar won the nearly one-hour contest 10-12, 12-10, 11-6, 16-14.
Another Kuwaiti player Abdullah Al Muzayen also made it to the last eight stage and will be joined by two players from Egypt and one player from England, India and Malaysia.Youssef Soliman, Ben Coleman, Karim El Hammamy, Ramit Tandon and Sanjay Singh complete the quarter-final line up.
The semi-finals of the event will be held on Sunday and the final on Monday.
