India’s forex reserves drop by $14.88 billion

New Delhi: India’s foreign exchange reserves fell by $14.881 billion to stand at $765.901 billion, according to the latest figures released by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI).

This was the second consecutive week when the country's forex reserves had declined. The previous week, they fell by 4.92 billion U.S. dollars after rising for several weeks.

The latest RBI data also revealed that India's foreign currency assets dropped by 14.816 billion U.S. dollars to 630.98 billion U.S. dollars, while the gold reserve increased by 68 million U.S. dollars to 111.292 billion U.S. dollars and the Special Drawing Rights fell by 106 million U.S. dollars to 18.739 billion U.S. dollars.

Besides, the country's reserve position in the International Monetary Fund weakened by 27 million U.S. dollars to 4.89 billion U.S. dollars.
