DOHA: A Ministry of Transport’s workshop on updating the Qatar Bicycle Master Plan (QBMP) has concluded.

It is the third and final in a series of consultative workshops largely attended by concerned government and private entities, experts, and transportation and urban planning specialists.

The MoT has been following a collaborative approach since the project’s inception, aiming to develop a safe and integrated infrastructure network for bicycles and micromobility devices in step with urban expansion and growing needs of the population.

The project also furthers the goals of the 3rd Qatar National Development Strategy (NDS3) and MoT Strategy 2025-2030, fostering the efficiency of public services and improving the quality of life. Today’s workshop focused on QBMP’s development journey, final schemes, implementation program, and bike infrastructure planning and design guide. The implementation program defines implementation priorities in various areas countrywide and relevant authorities’ responsibilities.

The guide helps ensure that bicycle networks and facilities and micromobility devices are integrated with the overall transportation system.

The MoT is committed to working closely with stakeholders and partners from all industries to ensure integrated efforts for best national outcomes in line with the national orientation toward more efficient and sustainable transportation systems, thereby solidifying Qatar’s profile as a trailblazing hub in adopting sustainable transit solutions.
