Qatar National Human Rights Committee Chairman Dr. Ali bin Smaikh Al Marri with Dr. Obaid Ahmed Al Obaid, Director of the United Nations Human Rights Training and Documentation Centre for Southwest Asia and the Arab Region.
Doha: Qatar National Human Rights Committee Chairman Dr. Ali bin Smaikh Al Marri reiterated NHRC’s continued support for the United Nations Human Rights Training and Documentation Centre for Southwest Asia and the Arab Region as a strategic choice to build capacities of government agencies and civil society institutions in the Arab region.
Dr Al Marri’s remarks came as he met the centre’s Director Dr. Obaid Ahmed Al Obaid, who has been appointed as Director of the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights in Yemen.
During the meeting at the NHRC headquarters, Dr. Al Marri called for building bridges of communication and activation of cooperation mechanisms with the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights and highlighted continued support provided by Qatar and NHRC in the field of human rights to achieve peace, security and stability in Yemen.
Dr Obaid praised the partnership between the centre and NHRC and between the centre and the Arab Network for National Human Rights Institutions in Doha.
