FM holds talks with officials in New York

New York: Foreign Minister H E Dr Khalid bin Mohamed Al Attiyah met his Turkish counterpart Feridun Sinirlioglu on the sidelines of the 70th UN General Assembly yesterday.
Talks dealt with bilateral ties, means of developing them, issues of common concern and the situation in Syria and the Middle East.
Dr Al Attiyah also met Austrian Minister of European, International and Integration Affairs and Foreign Minister Sebastian Kurz and reviewed economic relations, the situation in Syria and Yemen and other issues of common concern.
He held a separate meeting with Fiji’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Ratu Inoke Kubuabola and reviewed relations and issues of mutual concern. Separately, he met Richard Atwood, Director, Multilateral Affairs and Head of New York Office, International Crisis Group, and discussed the situation in Syria and the Middle East as well as regional and international crises.
He also met Jean-Paul Laborde, Executive Director, UN Counter-Terrorism Committee, and highlighted Qatar’s efforts in the fight against terrorism and violent extremism.
Talks also dealt with the committee’s work on counter-terrorism and contribution to capacity-building of priority countries to fight terrorism. 
Dr Al Attiyah met his Croatian counterpart Vesna Pusic and discussed relations, means of promoting economic cooperation, political and security situation in the Gulf and cooperation between the GCC countries and the European Union.
He also met his Colombian counterpart Maria Angela Holguin Cuellar. Talks dealt with bilateral relations, means of promoting them and issues of common concern. He held a separate meeting with Tanzanian Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Co-operation Bernard Membe and reviewed bilateral relations and issues of common concern. QNA
