Doha, Qatar: The Elderly Council, one of the flagship community initiatives of the Center for Empowerment and Care of the Elderly (Ehsan), has launched its summer programme in collaboration with youth centres as part of efforts to strengthen community engagement and provide a supportive environment for skill development and the productive use of leisure time during the summer break.
The programme features a diverse range of cultural, social, recreational and awareness activities designed to engage participants of different age groups. The initiative aims to promote communication and interaction among community members while highlighting the importance of partnerships with youth centres in delivering quality programmes that meet participants’ needs and aspirations.
The Elderly Council said the programme reflects its ongoing commitment to supporting meaningful community initiatives and enhancing the role of senior citizens in passing on their experiences, knowledge and values to younger generations.
It also praised the fruitful cooperation with youth centres and the resources they provide to ensure the success of various activities and events.
Running throughout the summer, the programme will include a series of workshops, events and interactive gatherings aimed at enriching participants’ educational and social experiences, strengthening intergenerational connections, and fostering a stronger sense of belonging within the community.
The initiative underscores Ehsan’s broader mission of empowering older persons, encouraging active community participation, and creating opportunities for meaningful engagement between generations.
