Doha: Qatar Social and Cultural Center for the Blind (QSCCB) of the Ministry of Culture organized a lecture yesterday, under the title of new horizons in supporting visual impairment and the role of Artificial Intelligence (AI).
Delivered by the media writer and researcher Dr. Marfut Ibrahim, the lecture highlighted numerous AI technologies and programs developed by technology firms, such as Ava and Be My Eyes programs consecrated to people with visual impairment.
Speaking to QNA, QSCCB Chairperson Faisal Muhammad Al Kooheji said the lecture marked the beginning of the QSCCB’s activities during the summer program, which included organizing various events, lectures, and workshops. Among these were artistic workshops such as a course in ceramic art in collaboration with the Visual Arts Center.
Additionally, he said, there is the ears of craftsmanship program aimed at enabling visually impaired individuals to access different arts through hearing and introducing them to audio description services in various fields.
