Prime Minister and Interior Minister H E  Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al Thani inaugurating the Economic Empowerment of The Youth Forum yesterday.

DOHA: The government has plans to set up a committee that will look into the needs of the local job market over the next 10 years.
The apex committee will be tasked with preparing details of what specialist jobs will be required in the country over the coming decade.
This was disclosed by Prime Minister and Interior Minister H E Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al Thani at an Economic Empowerment Forum for the Youth.
The event is being held at Qatar University by the Ministry of Economy and Commerce.
The PM said that the government was making efforts to support the private sector on the directives of Emir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani.
Speaking to reporters following the opening session of the Forum, the PM said that such initiatives were aimed at enhancing partnerships with the private sector and ensuring that the government does not compete with it.
The aim of the forum is to support young people and encourage them to start businesses, and to empower their projects by showing them how to take advantage of the experience and expertise available in the Ministry of Economy and Commerce and the private sector.
Responding to a question on problems related to funding young people’s projects, he noted that banks had begun to provide funding for projects built on sound foundations, and the ministries of economy, trade and finance were playing a role in this regard.
With regard to industrial land, the PM said a ministerial committee had been set up to study the state’s need for industrial land over the next five years, whether for public schools, private schools, hospitals or industrial units.
The PM said the Emir drew up Qatar National Vision 2030 with the youth as its pillar, saying that its realisation relies on the youth’s contributions.
“We, our sons and daughters, are confident of your abilities to accomplish many achievements in various sectors,” the Prime Minister said.
He explained that the government had worked ceaselessly to remove obstacles and provide all the means to qualify the youth to have access to new development prospects and enter the world of business to contribute to a better future for Qatar.
In order to achieve this national objective, the government drew up a plan for nationalisation and scholarships, Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser said, noting that it had been decided to form of a committee to identify the skills required in the labour market in the coming years in the light of the government’s vision with regard to the concerned plan.
