Doha, Qatar: MES Indian School observed World Earth Day with a series of well-coordinated activities under the theme “Mission Green Tree, Our Power, Our Planet.” The observance witnessed enthusiastic participation from students, teachers, and staff, fostering awareness, unity, and a strong sense of environmental responsibility.
The programme commenced with a special morning assembly highlighting the importance of Earth Day and the need to protect natural resources. As a symbolic gesture of environmental commitment, a sapling was presented to the Principal, Dr Hameeda Kadar, reinforcing the message of nurturing and preserving nature.
A student representative from the Campus Care Force (CCF) delivered a speech on environmental conservation and collective responsibility. The school Principal in her address, emphasised the importance of environmental responsibility and urged students to become active contributors in protecting and preserving the earth for future generations.
“Earth Corner,” an interactive learning space featuring creative displays and informative messages on environmental protection, proved to be a major highlight of the observance. In the Kindergarten Section, students watched an engaging video on ways to protect the earth, helping them to understand the importance of caring for the environment.
They also participated in a colouring activity themed ‘World Earth Day’ to encourage creativity and awareness. The Junior Section students of Grades I to IV participated in the “Promise Leaf Activity,” wherein each student wrote a personal pledge on a leaf-shaped cut-out, expressing commitments such as saving water, planting trees, reducing plastic usage, and maintaining cleanliness. An awareness video was also screened to sensitise students on environmental issues such as pollution control, conservation of natural resources, and sustainable living habits.
Classes V to VII prepared posters and placards with impactful environmental slogans, while Class VIII students showcased innovative earth models, reflecting creativity and environmental understanding. A plant display activity under the Green Campus initiative further strengthened the message of greenery and sustainability across the campus. The event concluded with a collective Earth Day pledge, reaffirming the school’s commitment to environmental conservation and sustainable living.
