DOHA: A workshop will be held on the Middle East Respiratory Syndrome Corona Virus (Mers-CoV) tomorrow for healthcare experts in the region. The workshop is organised jointly by Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO), Ministry of Environment, and the Supreme Council of Health in Qatar in collaboration with the World Organization for Animal Health (OIE), and World Health Organisation (WHO).
The workshop which brings the all disciplines together for the first time on MERS-CoV will mainly discuss the current status of the disease in the region and the African Horn with focus on the role of ‘One-Health’ aiming at its control based on sharing the updated results of the laboratory diagnostic tools and experimental studies.
The three-day event in Mariot Hotel, will engage representatives from Gulf Cooperation Council and several others from countries affected by the disease in the Arabic region with more than 120 experts from veterinary, animal and human health, epidemiology, environmental health departments besides concerned UN agencies and representatives from several universities and international research institutes.
