Amid displacement and loss of hope, Qatar Charity has continued its efforts to offer urgent and instant relief since crisis hit Mosul, providing food and medicine that benefited 15,000 people.
QC aims at constantly helping Iraqis to overcome the conditions they are going through, alleviate their terrible suffering, and provide them with the necessary supplies.
Mohammed Al Kaabi, Director of Relief Department at QC, said: “Extending aid to the people of Iraq is still ongoing. Today, QC is providing an urgent and fast relief to thousands of families who have stayed in Mosul. QC distributed food baskets including rice, sugar, edible oil, tea, lentils, tomato paste, beans, canned cheese, and milk for kids so as to give them a glimmer of hope.”
Emergency relief included medical supplies such as aspirins, paracetamol, paediatric drugs, dressings, sterilisers and other medicines hospitals desperately need in the city which are suffering from a severe shortage of medical supplies.
These are intended to provide the rest of families in Mosul with the capability to confront the serious crisis there which has resulted in the harsh humanitarian situation and depriving thousands of families of their property and savings.
Al Kaabi added: “The humanitarian crisis in Iraq is one of the most serious crises at the global humanitarian level, especially due to the military operations in Mosul which have resulted in record numbers of displaced people. More than 10 million Iraqi citizens, one third of the population of Iraq, currently need humanitarian aid as more than 4 million Iraqis have been displaced after the expansion of the fighting since the beginning of the crisis in 2014. 3.3 million are still facing troubles without a place till today. Further, the serious crisis in Mosul has forced over 700,000 people, most of them suffering from hard living conditions, to flee Mosul and the surrounding villages.”
QC has carried out a project for building a camp consisting of 1,000 equipped tents in addition to health facilities for the displaced people along with launching "Help people in Mosul” campaign.
