Children are the most vulnerable and exposed to car and motorcycle accidents in winter camps, said an officer of the Ministry of Interior.
“Traffic safety is very important at all camps and places which witness more vehicles and motorcycles drives by both adults and children. Children are the most exposed to accidents for many reasons as they are driving in cars and some of them don’t know how to drive it very well," said Lt Abdul Wahid Ghareeb Al Anzi, Traffic Awareness Officer.
“We have advised parents not to allow their sons to drive motorcycles between vehicles which makes them prone to accidents. They must take care of them while they are driving it,” Al Anzi added during the conclusion of the awareness campaign under the theme “enjoyable season and safety camping” at Al Maronah coastal area organised by The Community Police on Friday.
The aim of the campaign was to increase awareness about dangers which may affect campers especially children and youth.
The campaign was organised by Community Police in collaboration with General Directorate of Traffic Department, Civil Defence and Qatar Red Crescent.
The campaign concluded with a visit to Al Ghariyah and Al Maronah areas. Awareness team visited campers at their camps and talked to them about safety measures and gave them some advice on how to remain safe from accidents in the desert.
“The Ministry of Interior decided to launch this campaign due to the success achieved by last year's campaign. Campers were given enough information about the safety of children because they must not go to places or hills which may become dangerous in addition to information about other incidents either fire incidents or car accidents,” said Lt Col Ahmad Al Mohannadi, Director of Community Policing Department.
“All the visits conducted by the teams were successful and campers cooperated with the teams,” Lieutenant Jamal Hamad Al Nuaimi, Community Police Officer at Al Shamal Public Security Department said.
