Sydney--Highlights of Thursday's World Cup semi-final between Australia and India at the Sydney Cricket Ground:
Warne thinks big
- Australian spin legend Shane Warne was predicting a colossal score in the first innings of around 350-400 before play got underway. Australia made 328-7.
Kohli's a ball boy
- Batting superstar Virat Kohli was surprisingly thrown the ball as second change to bowl the 12th over with his gentle seamers. He had only taken four wiclets in his previous 157 ODIs. He was taken off after just one over, which cost seven runs, and replaced by Ravindra Jadeja.
Smith in the runs again
- Steve Smith continued to pile on the runs, reaching his fourth ODI century in his 57th match with 11 fours and two sixes. His previous three innings in the tournament were 95, 72 and 65. Smith was eventually dismissed for 105 off 93 balls.
Review and rumpus
- India wasted their only review when Aaron Finch remained not out when Australia were 116-1. Smith and Rohit Sharma then exchanged insults which required umpire Richard Kettleborough to act as peacemaker.
Dhawan lifeline
- Shikhar Dhawan was dropped by Brad Haddin off Josh Hazlewood when he had made just five.
No holding back
- Dhawan and Rohit Sharma raced to 55-0 in the first 10 overs before Dhawan was the first man out on 45 with his team on 76-1.
Jeers thenn cheers
- Kohli was widely booed when he came to the crease while minutes later his girlfriend, Bollywood actress Anushka Sharma was greeted with rapturous applause when the stadium big screen picked her out sitting high up in the stands at the SCG.
