Commercialbank announced the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Al Sadd Sports Club. The MoU, which also supports Al Sadd’s CSR programme ‘Disability Legacy’ is dedicated specifically to fans with disabilities and is aimed at developing a safe and comfortable environment to cater around their needs. Thus, enabling  the disabled to smoothly and freely integrate sporting events in their social lifestyle.

The memorandum was signed by Jassim Al Rumaihi, the General Secretary of Al Sadd Sports Club and Abdulla Saleh Al Raisi, Deputy CEO of Commercialbank.

Abdulla Al Raisi, Deputy CEO of Commercialbank commenting on the new partnership said “Commercialbank is very pleased to partner with Al Sadd Sports Club to upgrade their premises to create the first disabled-friendly access club of its kind in Qatar – spreading joy to all members of society equally.”

Al Raisi further expounded upon his thoughts saying, “At Commercialbank, we recognise the necessity of supporting organisations such as Al Sadd Sports Club, who in turn support people with special needs and at the same time enabling the bank to actively participate in initiatives,  that aim to strengthen the community spirit through sports”.

To further comment on the signing was Jassim Al Rumaihi, General Secretary of Al Sadd Sports Club, as he spoke with appreciation in saying, “We are honored to join such a cardinal partnership with Commercialbank. We have a firm resolve in continuing our support to ‘Disability Legacy’ programme and strive to stand as a model in respect to our community.”

Unified efforts between the two parties will breed a crucial partnership that will serve as wings in uplifting and influencing social inclusion. The support of the Bank will be directed towards the empowerment for our population coping with disabilities. As such, the programme allows for the provision of administrative assistants dedicated to the service of the disabled, as well as special access cards, an electronic map for Al Sadd’s ‘blue zone’(that serves the disabled), and “blue mini booklet” meant to educatethe community concerning the necessary sign language to communicate to those who have hearing-impairments.

Through this initiative Commercialbank towers in the region as the first organisation in Qatar, devoted to the support of sport spectators with special needs. Alongside in leadership is Al Sadd Sports Club, who is to provide the equipment and facilities compatible with international standards set for the disabled. As the process unravels it will formulate the necessary confidence required for the disabled, to attend and fully enjoy all the facilities within the club on an equal basis with others, in all aspects of life.”

Al Rumaihi’s later tied together the significance of the partnership, he remarked “We believe that sports clubs have an important role in their communities. Forming partnerships within various sectors will grow to serve everyone in the community, as well as raise the awareness bar of social responsibility.”
