Doha: The Organising Committee of DIMDEX 2016, the fifth Doha International Maritime Defence Exhibition and Conference held under the patronage of Emir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, visited DSEi, the UK defence and security trade show.
The panel was the official delegation of Qatar Armed Forces.
Held biennially in London’s ExCelCentre, DSEi is one of the most important shows of its type in Europe due to participation of the world’s biggest defence and security companies.
After officially announcing the launch of the fifth edition of DIMDEX earlier this year, the marketing and promotional campaign for DIMDEX 2016 has included visits to international defence exhibitions.
The visits are an important component of cementing DIMDEX’s reputation internationally beyond the Middle East and North Africa (Mena) region and attracting more companies to DIMDEX, which has become a leading maritime and naval defence exhibition and conference.
On behalf of Assistant Minister of State for Defence Affairs for Financial Affairs and DIMDEX Chairman H E Brig. Dr (Eng) Thani A Al Kuwari, the delegation met prominent defence industry companies and experts and military figureheads from the UK, Italy, the US, Canada, Jordan and other countries.
The team listened to their suggestions and opinions for DIMDEX 2016, discussed ways to make their participation in the event in March next year more successful on official and trade levels and how to win future deals in Mena where studies show security deals are on the rise.
DIMDEX 2016 will be held in Doha from March 29 to 31 at Qatar National Convention Centre (QNCC). It will be the first to be solely organised and hosted by Qatar Armed Forces and will include events such as international strategic Middle East Naval Commanders Conference (MENC) where defence and security experts from various countries will discuss challenges and factors affecting maritime security in Mena. Near QNCC, classes of warships will dock at Doha Commercial Port during the event and receive visitors. The warships will showcase technical capabilities and host networking events that bring exhibitors together with decisionmakers.
