Doha, Qatar: Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs HE Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani participated in the 49th Extraordinary Meeting of the GCC Ministerial Council, held Tuesday in Doha.
The meeting was chaired by HE Minister of Foreign Affairs of the State of Kuwait and President of the current session of the Ministerial Council Abdullah Ali Al-Yahya, with the attendance of Their Highnesses and Excellencies the Foreign Ministers of the GCC states.
During the meeting, the latest developments in the region were discussed, particularly the Iranian missile attack on Al-Udeid Air Base, in addition to a number of issues of common interest.
Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs reiterated the State of Qatar's strong condemnation of the attack on Al-Udeid Air Base by the Iranian Revolutionary Guard, considering it a blatant violation of Qatar’s sovereignty and airspace, as well as of international law and the United Nations Charter. He emphasized that Qatar will continue to respond to all developments with wisdom and within its unwavering commitment to the principle of good neighborliness and the advancement of regional security and stability.
His Excellency also expressed the State of Qatar's gratitude to Their Highnesses and Excellencies the Foreign Ministers of the GCC member states who expressed their countries' solidarity with Qatar in the wake of the Iranian attack, stressing that GCC solidarity remains a crucial factor in the face of shared challenges.
The GCC Ministerial Council, during the meeting, expressed full solidarity with the State of Qatar and complete support for any measures it takes to preserve its security and stability.
