Doha, Qatar: The Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MoCI) held an open meeting with a host of entrepreneurs and owners of small and medium enterprises and household projects to discuss the most outstanding challenges facing this sector and explore solutions needed for its development.
The meeting comes within the framework of the keenness to support entrepreneurship in the State of Qatar, to develop small and medium enterprises, to provide all kinds of support to entrepreneurs and small investors, and to remove hurdles to help them practice their business activities more expeditiously, said MoCI in a statement on Sunday.
Assistant Undersecretary for Industrial Affairs at MoCI Mohammed Hassan Al Malki asserted that support for the sector of local entrepreneurship and small and medium enterprises is at the top of the list of Qatar's interests since the sector is one of the core pillars of economic diversification, the activation of investment and the promotion of innovation's contribution in conformity with Qatar National Vision 2030.
He outlined that MoCI has launched multiple initiatives and innovative ventures and provided an attractive legislative environment through updating laws and legislations that support the sector of entrepreneurship and advance it for the service of Qatar's objectives and orientations.
The meeting addressed the most prominent challenges laid out by entrepreneurs and owners of small and medium businesses, in pursuit of establishing their trade and development ventures which were based on procedures of establishing companies and the legislations that regulate investments. It also highlighted the most outstanding ventures and initiatives launched by MoCI to support and promote entrepreneurship, in addition to discussing an array of proposals that would support ventures success and curb these challenges.
