Doha: Silatech has signed an agreement with Sudan Rural Development Company to provide entrepreneurship training for 1,000 Sudanese youth.
Signed by Raed Al Emadi, Deputy CEO, Silatech, and Dr Jafar Farah, General Manager of the company in Khartoum, the deal marks the first major programme Silatech has undertaken in the country.
Training is part of a microfinance programme for which the company will provide about $1m to finance businesses of young entrepreneurs after they complete a 10-day course.
Financed by Silatech and conducted through local implementation partner, Do Solutions, the course will be held shortly after Ramadan. A large number of selected youth, dignitaries and officials attended the signing ceremony at the presidential hall on June 16. It was held under the patronage of Dr Abdul Rahman Hassan, Governor, Central Bank of Sudan.
Silatech is a social initiative that works with partners in the Arab world to provide employment and entrepreneurship opportunities for young people in the region.
It is working with 30 microfinance institutions in 11 countries and has so far enabled over 90,000 youth-run businesses to start and grow, supporting more than 140,000 youth jobs. Silatech is the region’s largest provider of youth-focused microenterprise services. Agencies
