DOHA: The Supreme Council of Health (SCH) has ordered immediate withdrawal of Advil for children from the local market, due to a mistake in dosage instruction.
The Department of Pharmacy and Drug Control has identified a mistake in the dosage instruction on the drug’s pamphlets with series numbers J45678, J58139, J89259, J75585 and G17191.
“The drug is safe for use and has only an error in the dosage instruction,” SCH said in a statement.
The dosage has been mistakenly instructed to be taken every six to eight hours or every three to four hours daily as per doctor’s instruction. However, the dosage should be taken every six to eight hours or three to four times daily. The dealer has been notified to stop selling the drug with wrong dosage instructions.
