Sydney, Australia: Organized crime detectives are investigating after gunshots were fired at three houses in western Sydney within 15 minutes on Friday night.

Police in the state of New South Wales (NSW) said in a statement on Saturday that emergency services were called to three reports of shootings targeting houses in the neighboring western Sydney suburbs of Merrylands and Wentworthville between 1045 and 11 p.m. local time on Friday.

Detectives from Taskforce Falcon, which was established by the NSW Police Force in May 2025 to combat escalating violence linked to organized crime in Sydney, commenced an investigation and were told that several shots had been fired into each house by the occupants of an unknown vehicle.

No injuries were reported during any of the shootings.

The police statement said that detectives are hoping to speak to the driver of a vehicle that was seen driving away from the third home that was targeted.

It comes after four people, including two police officers, were injured in separate shootings in western Sydney on Wednesday night.

A 26-year-old man, who was critically injured when several shots were fired from one vehicle into another, was on Thursday identified by local media as a former professional boxer with suspected organized crime links.
