DOHA: High winds lashed the country late last evening. Eyewitnesses said wind speed was close to 100km an hour outside Doha but that didn’t apparently dampen the spirit of young Qataris who were speeding off to the outskirts at the weekend. Windy conditions are forecast to continue and by this evening strong winds may be accompanied with dust, the weather bureau has warned.
The Ministry of Interior has, meanwhile, asked seafarers to return immediately as a “dust-storm” was expected.
On its officials Twitter account, the ministry said yesterday that the sea will be tumultuous so people must return soon.
The high winds moving from the colder regions in the northwest may today provide relief from the heat. A sharp decline in day and night temperatures is expected as the maximum temperature forecast is 32 degrees Celsius while night temperatures will be between 21 and 25
degrees. The Peninsula
