Doha, Qatar: The Ministry of Municipality, represented by the Public Cleanliness Department and the Projects and Development Department, in cooperation with the Friends of the Municipality Group and the management of 974 Beach, organised an awareness event on the occasion of the International Day of Education under the theme “Conscious Education… for a Cleaner Community.” The event was attended by Assistant Undersecretary for Public Services Affairs Abdullah Ahmed Al-Karani.

During the event, Eng. Al-Karani delivered a keynote address highlighting the importance of the Waste Sorting at Source programme and its role in raising environmental awareness and embedding sustainable practices among younger generations. He emphasised the Ministry’s strong commitment to supporting initiatives that promote environmental responsibility and sustainability.

The event featured a variety of activities designed to blend education with entertainment. Key highlights included awareness sessions on the Waste Sorting at Source programme, as well as interactive board activities and storytelling aimed at educating participants about the protection of marine life. Students from the Friends of the Municipality Group also delivered awareness segments, helping to foster leadership and a sense of responsibility among their peers.

The event received broad support and participation from private-sector partners, enriching its practical dimension through a specialised workshop that taught students correct waste-sorting methods. In addition, an arts and recycling activities corner enabled students to showcase their creativity using environmentally friendly materials.
