Action from the Qatar Rugby Federation’s (QRF’s) National Club Rugby Championship.
Doha: The Qatar Rugby Federation’s (QRF’s) National Club Rugby Championship continues to heat up with Doha Maroon topping the scoreboard and only two rounds left before the start of the highly-anticipated semi-final matches.
Doha Maroon – Doha RFC’s men’s first team – is currently sitting in first place with 20 points, followed closely by the Camels, who trail just three points behind.
Dave Ford, captain of Doha Maroon, said: “We’re still pursuing our main goal of going the entire season undefeated. We have some big friendlies coming up against Kuwait and Muscat before, hopefully, a winner takes all final against the Camels. New coach Regan Sue has recently come on board from New Zealand and brought a new level of intensity that we can hopefully take forward to convincingly winning the league.” Today, Doha Gold – Doha RFC’s men’s second team – and Doha Vets will go head to head in the six round of the competition. The teams, currently placed fourth and fifth respectively, will play at DRFC at 7pm. The QRF’s National Club Rugby Championship is set to conclude in March 2018. The matches are being played in three different venues across the country, including Al Khor, DRFC, and Aspire Zone’s Warm-Up Track.
