Washington: At least six, including a child, were left dead and an unknown number of people were critically injured in a storm described by forecasters as "particularly dangerous" hit Wednesday south and mid-west of the US.
There have been reports of at least 20 tornadoes of varying severity, according to (BBC).
Three people were killed, including a seven-year-old, as tornadoes moved through northern Mississippi along with two in Tennessee and one in Arkansas, officials said.
Storms also have hit states of Kentucky, Alabama, Indiana, Illinois, Missouri and Alabama.
US National Hurricane Center said that the severe storm systems and tornados may affect about 45 million people, especially houses and properties, due to floods and high waves.
The centre determined Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi and Tennessee as areas threatened by dangerous tornados starting from midnight "tonight" until tomorrow evening.
