Paris, France: The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) said on Friday it overturned a four-year doping ban imposed on Japanese Tokyo Olympics silver medallist race walker Koki Ikeda.

Ikeda was banned in 2025 after abnormalities were found in his Athlete Biological Passport (ABP) that indicated blood manipulation.

He fought his case and CAS, the world's top sports court, said that a panel "found that the alternative physiological scenario brought by Mr Ikeda was plausible".

"The Panel were satisfied that the Athlete established several factors to explain the abnormalities, which include personal medical conditions," CAS added in a statement.

Ikeda was second in the men's 20-kilometre race at the Covid-delayed Tokyo Olympics that were held in 2021, and finished seventh in that event at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
