Doha: The Orphan Care Centre ‘Dreama’ organised the Incubating Mothers Forum entitled (Our Journey Hand in Hand), which comes within the framework of a series of periodic forums organised by the Centre to enhance the role of incubating families and ensure the stability of children in alternative incubating families.

Dreama aims to  achieve the Centre’s objectives of providing a safe and stable environment and integrating children into society through providing them with the necessary support by specialists in various fields.

A number of incubating mothers and specialists at the Centre participated in the forum, where  a variety of recreational activities were available  for children of incubating families .

Al Anoud Hassan Darwish, Acting Executive Director of the Orphan Care Centre ‘Dreama’, expressed her happiness with the interactive and stimulating atmosphere between children, incubating families, and social and psychological specialists.  Al Anoud stressed the importance of these forums, which greatly contribute to the required rapprochement, and noted the humanitarian role played by  incubating families, and highlighted the keenness of ‘Dreama’ to hold this forum periodically with the participation of incubating families.

The forum programme included a workshop entitled (Empowerment with Love), where Ms. Khawla Al Buainain, a social worker and life coach explained the difference between the two concepts of care; dependability and the promotion of need, and empowerment, which means taking responsibility, developing capabilities and increasing growth opportunities.

Khawla pointed out that the forum (Our Journey Hand in Hand), stems from the principles of partnership, continuity and empowering the incubating family with view to empowering the child, and added that empowerment with love is characterised by the fact that it stems from (the intentions of love) not the intentions of fear, where the intentions of love represent kindness, softness, reward, encouragement, support, gradualness, fun, play, patience, understanding the nature of age stages, clarity in goals and enjoying the journey of education and empowerment.

As for the intentions of fear, they are represented in cruelty, intimidation, lack of understanding of age stages, lack of patience, tendency to authoritarianism, urgency of results, excessive pampering or cruelty, and lack of enjoyment of the journey of education and empowerment with the child.

Khawla elaborated on the results of empowerment with love on mothers and children, in partnership with ‘Dreama’. At the end of the workshop, she explained the model of the empowerment plan that each incubator mother will use to set goals for her incubated children, in partnership with “Dreama” Centre.

The mothers were distributed to working groups under the supervision of social and psychological specialists to guide them on how to formulate empowerment goals, and to develop a plan to follow them up.

The incubating mothers expressed their thankfulness to ‘Dreama’  for organising such useful forums.

It is worth mentioning that the Orphan Care Centre ‘Dreama’ is a pioneering centre in the care of orphans and their integration into society. It aims to provide the necessary care for the targeted groups in the State of Qatar, their stability in incubating families, and the provision of services that meet their requirements and needs.
