Doha, Qatar: The Sultanate of Oman, in coordination with International Maritime Organization (IMO), announced the provision of a shipping transit corridor in the Strait of Hormuz.
In a social media statement published on Wednesday, June 24, 2026, the Maritime Security Centre of Oman stated, “The Sultanate of Oman based on its responsibilities toward the Strait of Hormuz, and its importance to the global economy, and in accordance to its continued commitment to the international law and the law of the sea to ensure freedom of navigation in the strait without imposing any tolls, in line with the outcomes and efforts reached by the United States and Islamic Republic of Iran.”

It added that the Sultanate of Oman has worked in coordination with the IMO to provide vessels with the option of a temporary maritime corridor defined by the coordinates announced by IMO and Omani authorities.
It further urged ships willing to transit are required to coordinate with the IMO.
