DOHA: Q-Chem held their nerve to claim a narrow nine-run victory over Khan XI at the Challenge Cup Twenty20, here at the West End Park Stadium.
After electing to bat first, the winning side posted a total of 135 in the allotted 20 overs.
Deluk and Ammar were the main scorers for Q-Chem with knocks of 38 runs and 22 runs respectively.
Bilal who took a brace of wickets and Mujtaba who removed one batsman were the main performing bowlers for Khan XI.
Chasing the target, Khan XI got off to a good start, laced with an impressive innings of 37 runs  by Adnan. Mujtaba also played well for his cameo of 22.
However, wickets at regular interval hurt their rythm as they fell nine runs short of their opponents’ total.
Badar was the chief tormentor with a four-wicket haul while  Tahir took a tally of three wickets to help Q-Chem defend their target. Badar was named Man-of-the-Match for his fiery bowling show.
Following the match, Michael Scallon from West End Park commented: “Such matches are telling level of competitiveness that teams such as Q-Chem and Khans XI running each other close and it makes for an exciting tournament. The games are coming thick and fast, it is all still to play for in the coming weeks”.
West End Park Stadium is hosting the Challenge Cup until its conclusion on July 5, a tournament which will be followed by the Ramadan Tournament from the next day.
Sixteen teams from the QCA B and C Divisions will be participating.  The event will be a colourful tournament as four overseas players will be permitted per squad.
