New Delhi: The cabinet yesterday approved a special recruitment drive to fill up vacancies reserved under the Scheduled Castes (SCs), Scheduled Tribes (STs) and Other Backward Classes (OBCs) quota, an official statement said.
According to the statement, 75,522 vacancies had been identified by end of March 2012.
Of these, 44,427 were in the direct recruitment quota and 31,095 in the promotion quota.
According to the statement, of the 44,427 vacancies in the direct recruitment quota, 28,588 had been filled.
Out of 31,095 vacancies in the promotion quota, there were 11,347 vacancies (SC 4,239 and ST 7,106) for which eligible candidates were not available, said the statement.
Of the remaining 19,748 vacancies in the promotion quota, 19,446 vacancies have been filled up so far.
The drive was reviewed by the ministry of personnel, public grievances and pensions in July 2011. It was re-launched to fill up the remaining vacancies by the end of March 2012.
