DOHA: The Ministry of Economy and Commerce and the Customs Authority have increased vigil at the airport and the seaport to make sure that substandard goods that do not meet Qatari standards and specifications do not enter the country.

During a fortnight-long campaign recently, the Ministry of Economy and Commerce, in collaboration with the Customs Authority, caught a large amount of substandard imported goods.
According to a press release from the ministry, among the seized goods were expired food that had turned stale, low-quality clothes with no country of origin marked, and substandard electrical appliances.
The ministry said it urges people to inform it via its hotline (8005000) or email (info@mec.gov.qa) if they come across such violations.
