Doha: Qatar Cancer Society (QCS) has resumed its ‘Patient Visits’ programme that was launched to provide psychological and social support to cancer patients. For patient safety measures, the programme was halted temporarily during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The recent visit by QCS with the support of Yalla Toys distributed gifts to 24 children in the Oncology ward at Sidra Medicine.
Huda Al Yafei, Director of Programs and Events Department at QCS, said: ‘The continuation of our Patient Visits program comes in the interest of QCS to support children with cancer morally and to bring some cheer. We also understand the close relationship between cancer and the psychological state, which plays a significant role in the healing process. QCS’s role is not limited to moral support, but also extends to financial support to patient families in need.”
She emphasised the continuation of its efforts towards raising the morale of patients and their families, whether inside or outside hospitals, by creating unique programmes to support and empower them by organising lectures and training workshops and involving them in all programmes organised by the association.
Al Yafei extended her thanks to all the partners who supported QCS’s programmes, especially Yalla Toys, for their generous gifts for the children and to Sidra Medicine for providing access to its young patients.
