New Delhi: Indian authorities confirmed Tuesday the deaths of all seven passengers aboard a Beechcraft ambulance plane that crashed in Jharkhand state yesterday, Monday.

The Directorate General of Civil Aviation said in a statement that the Beechcraft C90, operated by Red Bird Airways, had taken off yesterday from Ranchi in Jharkhand before requesting a change of course and losing contact with air traffic control after disappearing from radar screens.

It crashed during a thunderstorm. Search teams recovered the bodies of the victims, and authorities have launched an investigation to determine the circumstances of the accident.

The statement added that the ill-fated plane was carrying two pilots, two medical personnel, a patient, and two of his relatives.

On June 12,2025 India witnessed one of the worst air accidents in its history, when a passenger plane on flight number 171 from Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport in Ahmedabad to London Gatwick Airport crashed shortly after takeoff in the Meghani Nagar neighborhood just outside the airport perimeter, killing 229 passengers and 12 crew members, with only one passenger miraculously surviving.
