Doha, Qatar: Qatar Financial Markets Authority (QFMA) has announced the implementation of the qualification program to develop its employees performance, covering 10 specialized areas, in cooperation with the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment (CISI), a global body that provides qualification courses for professionals in the financial and investment sector, and provides a range of qualifications and resources necessary for professional development.
Mazyuna Al Naimi (pictured), Director of Human Resources Department at QFMA, said that these areas, which are developed exclusively by QFMA for its employees, are part of the preparatory course for the International Introduction to Securities & Investment, which is one of the courses required by QFMA from the financial sector professionals, in order to obtain or renew licenses for functions subject to QFMA’s jurisdiction. Al Naimi affirmed that this course reflects the importance of the global investment sector and the scope of this industry, and introduces the key investment products, regulations and changing professional behaviors within this sector.
She said that there are a number of QFMA employees, who have joined the course in order to acquire the knowledge and qualification and training experiences necessary for their professional development, indicating that this course is considered as a requirement for qualifying the employee to be proficient in his career path and capable of assuming senior leadership positions.
Qualifications acquired under this course include Crisis Management, International Introduction to Global Securities, Investment Operations, Investment Management, Compliance with International Financial Standards and Laws, Combating Financial Crime, and Risk in Financial Services. The London-based CISI sets standards of professional excellence and integrity for securities, investment, wealth and financial planning professionals, providing qualifications and promoting the highest level of competence for member, individual and firms. The CISI is located in 60 Arab and foreign countries, including Qatar. It was launched with London Stock Exchange in 1992 and has a global constituency of about 45,000 members in 111 countries. Al Naimi stressed that QFMA is constantly working on implementing many training and qualification programs that consider the employees’ functional needs and enhance their professional skills. QFMA is also making ongoing efforts to improve the performance of Qatari competencies and cadres, which contributes to its business and activities to the fullest, thus maintaining the development of Qatari capital markets. QFMA strives to excel its employees within different positions and job levels, as “Excellence” is among the six QFMA’s core values adopted in the performance of its staff and officials, in addition to Integrity, Fairness, Responsibility, Teamwork and Identity. QFMA also announced developing another qualification program for its employees covering qualification pathways in the specialized and general financial fields.
Al Naimi explained that this program provides a set of internationally accredited professional fellowship certificates covering most specializations and areas related to financial sector, including Fellowship Certificates in the American Certified Public Accountants (CPA), the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA), the Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA), the Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), and Institute of Management Accountants (IMA). Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE), Certificate in Quantitative Finance (CQF), Associate Certified Professional Accountant, Certified Government Auditing Professionals (CGAP), Associate Financial Services Risk Management, Enterprise Risk Management (ERM), Associate Risk Management Professional (ARMP), Certified Risk Management Professional (CRMP), and Information Systems Risk Management (ISRM) Certificate.
